When you think of Legs Matter Awareness week, one of the first things you think of might be socks as many people choose to wear brightly coloured socks to raise awareness of the hidden harm crisis in leg and foot conditions during the week.
We have thought about making Legs Matter socks available right from the beginning when we launched the campaign but couldn’t find the right sock supplier.
That all changed a few months ago when one of our Coalition members, Gill Sykes, Podiatrist, who represents the Royal College of Podiatry, was watching Dragon’s Den and the sock supplier with the perfect ethos was suddenly in front of her eyes!
Stand Out Socks was founded by 2 brothers in 2020 during the pandemic – one of the brothers has Down Syndrome and they provide paid employment opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities. They decided to take their new business to Dragon’s Den and were thrilled to get investment from 2 of the Dragons, Peter Jones and Steven Bartlett.
