What are the Legs Matter Roadshows about?

Kicking off in September 2024, we are organising a series of UK wide interactive roadshows:

  • Raising the alarm on hidden harm
  • In partnership with Essity and supported by Huntleigh Healthcare and member organisations from the Legs Matter Coalition
  • Developing confidence and capability in the safe application of compression
  • Early Intervention and Safe administration of compression to reduce the impact of venous hypertension

Knowlege and skills learning objectives

  • An overview of the physiology and pathopyhsiology of the peripheral arterial and venous systems in the lower limb
  • How to carry out a holistic lower limb assessment and develop awareness of what to do with red flags and when to refer on
  • An understanding of the basics of compression therapy and how it can support in the prevention of leg ulcer development and management of venous disease
  • Develop practical skills in ABPI and how to assess and measure for phlebology compression garments

  • Red Flags and Immediate and Necessary Care
  • Referral pathways – the Multi Disciplinary Team
  • Using compression therapy in patients with heart failure
  • Vascular assessment Demo – ABPI & Foot to Femoral
  • Practical Session: ABPI
  • Understanding how compression works – what is compression and why use it?
  • Practical Session: Measuring for compression garments and garment selection
  • How to access products and industry support available

  • 20 September, 2024 – Royal College of Podiatry, Kent
  • 9 December, 2024 – Essity Didsbury Office, Manchester
  • 24 January, 2025 – Huntleigh Training Centre, Cardiff
  • March/April, 2025 – Queen’s University, Belfast


A non-refundable fee of £10 + £2 booking fee with all proceeds going to Legs Matter as a charitable donation.
